Iowa Field Report has it first: The American Action Network (AAN) is ramping up its presence in Southeast Iowa this week, releasing a new television advertisement that thanks Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) for her role in delivering historic tax relief and securing critical funding for Iowa’s rural hospitals.
The new spot is the latest phase of a previously announced $10 million national campaign by AAN, an issue advocacy group aligned with House Speaker Mike Johnson. The blitz, which spans 37 congressional districts, is strategically timed to run through the April 15 tax filing deadline, highlighting the tangible benefits Iowans are seeing from the Working Families Tax Cuts Act.
“Mariannette Miller-Meeks secured the largest tax cut for working families in American history and delivered $209 million for Iowa’s rural health care,” said AAN President Chris Winkelman. “Mariannette is fighting alongside President Trump every day to deliver results for Iowa.”
Record-Breaking Momentum in the 1st District
The ad rollout comes on the heels of new fundraising data from the Miller-Meeks campaign. Released yesterday, the campaign announced that Miller-Meeks raised over $1.49 million in the first quarter of 2026 alone.
With over $4.3 million in cash on hand, her campaign is touting this as her best fundraising quarter ever, establishing the largest war chest ever reported by an Iowa congressional candidate. This massive financial advantage provides a significant buffer as she heads into a highly competitive rematch against Democrat Christina Bohannan.

Healthcare Results Meet Fiscal Policy
The AAN ad specifically ties the broader tax legislation to a localized healthcare victory: the $209 million in federal funds Iowa secured via the Rural Health Transformation Program. Iowa was the first state in the nation to access these funds, which are currently being deployed to stabilize small-town hospitals, expand telehealth, and modernize emergency medical services across the 1st District.
For Miller-Meeks, a physician and 24-year Army veteran, the rollout of these resources serves as a centerpiece of her “Delivering Results” narrative. As a former Director of the Iowa Department of Public Health, she has utilized her medical and administrative background to ensure Southeast Iowa was prioritized for this first-of-its-kind investment.
While her opponent has criticized the Republican-led legislative agenda, Miller-Meeks points to higher tax refunds and modernized medical infrastructure as evidence that her “all-of-the-above” approach is working. With the backing of a national $10 million campaign and a historic war chest, Miller-Meeks is making a strong opening case to the voters of the 1st District.
