Prominent Republicans gathered for the annual Iowa GOP Legislative breakfast to kick off the first day of the Iowa 2020 legislative session.

The yearly event sets the tone for the session and is an opportunity for party members to socialize and share ideas and policies for the upcoming session.

One message was clear from each of the speakers, more tax cuts are on the way.

Governor Kim Reynolds, Iowa GOP Chairman Jeff Kaufmann, Iowa House Speaker Pat Grassley, and Iowa Senate Majority Leader Jack Whitver, and several others all made appearances for the event.

The event was well attended by hundreds, including Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks and Former US Ambassador to China and Governor Terry Brandstad.

All speakers talked on the “Trifecta” powerhouse of the Republican Majority in the House, Senate, and the Governorship.

It was only through this powerhouse that legislation crafted that led to the largest tax cut in Iowa history, safeguarding elections, and preserving the 2nd amendment, were able to occur.

“Iowans will be able to look back at this legislative session and know it was Republicans who stood up for their freedoms. While Democrats and Joe Biden are trying to take our country down the path of socialism, it has always been Republicans, standing and fighting to preserve Iowans’ values, legislating with common sense and getting government out of the way, “ said Republican Party of Iowa Chairman Jeff Kaufmann after the event.
