An outside PAC will drop $150,000 for TV ads in Iowa to shore up support for Rep. Cindy Axne, Iowa’s lone Democrat in Congress. House Majority Forward, a DC-based democratically aligned PAC, is spending $1.2 million to boost vulnerable Democrats across the county with TV ads. The ads, first reported by Punchbowl News, focus on the members’ support for the American Rescue Plan, the formal name for the Biden Administration’s 1.9 trillion COVID-19 stimulus package.

Rep. Axne was the second-largest beneficiary of the PAC’s effort. According to Punchbowl, the tv buy includes:

  • $190,000 for Rep. Haley Stevens in Michigan,
  • $145,000 for Rep. Tom Malinowski in New Jersey
  • $145,000 for Rep. Steve Horsford also in Nevada
  • $145,000 for Rep. Susie Lee in Nevada
  • $110,000  for Rep. Angie Craig in Minnesota
  • $100,000 for Rep. Andy Kim in New Jersey
  • $55,000 Rep. Peter DeFazio in Oregon

Axne was first elected in 2018 to represent Iowa’s third district in the US House of Representatives. She ranked as one of the most vulnerable Democrats in Congress. The buy would seem to indicate that 1. Axne is soft in support from voters in her district, and 2. is going to run for election.
