Today it was announced that Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds would serve as the next Vice-Chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association. She will serve with  Arizona Governor Doug Ducey, who has been elected to the role of Chairman. Their terms are for one year. The Republican Governors Association (RGA) main function is electing and supporting Republican governors in the United States and its territories.

“If the challenges of 2020 taught us anything, it’s that leadership matters. Republican Governors across our country stepped up during an unprecedented time and I am honored to be a part of this incredible team,” said incoming RGA Vice Chairwoman Governor Kim Reynolds. “Across the nation, Republican Governors are leading America’s economic comeback, working to grow jobs, expand opportunity, and keep our communities safe. I look forward to partnering with RGA Chairman Governor Ducey to grow our ranks and elect more Republican Governors across the country.”

News of Reynolds’s new poison was well received in Iowa. The chairman of the republican party of Iowa, Jeff Kaufmann, released a statement congratulating her and touting her many accomplishments and leadership.

“From keeping taxes low while balancing the state budget, investing in Iowans’ priorities like K-12 education and skilled workforce training programs, to demonstrating steadfast leadership by taking a targeted, balanced approach to the COVID-19 pandemic, governors from across the country recognize Reynolds is a strong conservative leader who will never quit fighting for Iowa. I congratulate our outstanding governor on being selected to serve as Vice-Chair of the RGA, and I look forward to seeing the great work she will do to successfully elect Republican governors across the country.”

Governor Doug Ducey of Arizona issued this statement about his new role in leading the organization,

“I am honored to serve as the next Chairman of the RGA for this upcoming year. I look forward to building on the RGA’s momentum as we work to expand the Republican majority. In Arizona, we’ve put forward bold policy solutions and meaningful reforms that’s made our state one of the fastest-growing in the nation and we look forward to leading Republican Governors in bringing these reforms to the rest of our country,” said incoming RGA Chairman Governor Doug Ducey.

I also am excited to serve with my good friend Governor Kim Reynolds, who has been a mentor for myself and my colleagues,” Ducey concuded

Governor Greg Abbott, the outgoing chairman of RGA, celebrated Ducey’s selection and expected him to expand the GOP governor majority in the future.

First elected governor of Arizona in 2014, Ducey worked in the private sector. He is the former CEO of Cold Stone Creamery and is proud of his effort to leverage his business experience to better state government. He was reelected in 2018, increasing his margin of victory and earned more votes than any other governor in state history.
